From deep in the heart of the Hindi (some say Bollywood) movie tradition of extravagant spectacle, Parinda is now regarded as a landmark in the introduction of realism in Hindi Cinema.

India’s official selection for the 1990 Oscar for Best Foreign Language film, Parinda tells the story of orphaned brothers growing up on the mean streets of Mumbai. One joins the criminal class to pay for his brother’s education. Inevitably the conflict between them will be resolved in violence. The songs are composed by the legendary R D Burman.
